PL/Sec Camp '03

PL and Seconder Camp this year took us to Ballarat for a Leadership and Skills Training camp.

We travelled by train to Ballarat, then hiked from the station to the supermarket where each group shopped for their own food - everyone trying to cook a new recipe. Then we finished the hike to the campsite, where we treated ourselves and slept indoors in these cute little cabins!

Seconders practiced erecting Bell and Ridge Frame Tents, each girl taking a turn at being the 'leader' of the group. PLs discussed leadership styles, and running a patrol. Then we all got together for some hilarious role-playing: "Sticky situations: what NOT to do" (as well as what to do of course!), where the PL and seconder were given a difficult (but likely!) scenario at Guides which challenged their leadership abilities. We certainly have some born actresses in the group...  ;)

With a great campfire (over a mini-fire!) and a very moving Guides Own, as well as a late night trip to 'Blood on the Southern Cross' at Sovereign Hill it was a busy weekend! But we still found time to be a little bit creative and make matching 'doggy' hats and scarves!

Oh and don't forget the group that got a little bit power-hungry and managed to trip the circuit-breakers in their cabin while cooking with the oven, the microwave, the stovetop and the fan heater on! Nice one girls...

And of course our girls on crutches, who got the 'scenic tour' of Ballarat on the way back to the train station...while every car in Ballarat tooted us walkers!

Oh...its always eventful when you travel with the PLs and seconders...!
